Of note today, 5000+ Starlings up lifted from Newlands, 07.15hrs harassed by 3 x Sparrow Hawks using Ash Tree as their base!, Steetley Hide, 22 x Siskin, Otter @ 08.15hrs, Water Rail, Little Grebe,Goldcrest, Buzzard, East Marsh Hide, Little Grebe, Kingfisher, 3 x Wigeon, 2 x Common Snipe, 2 x Water Rail, 15 x Cormorant, Gulls, 6 x Common, 2 x Herring, 8 x LBB, Kestrel, Carlton Hide, Bittern @10.30hrs, Redpoll, 6 x Bullfinch, Ted Dury Hide, Buzzard, Distant views 40+ x Golden Plover East of hide. Greenfinch at Center.

Thurs 19th
Otter in East Marsh Pool under Willow nr Main footpath to East Marsh Hide. As seen from Wright Hide. Had a fish in its claws. Others. One Pintail. Wigeon. 20+ Shoveler. Tufted. Teal. 5+ Cormorant. 4 Snipe.5 Herons. Coal Tits. Long Tailed Tits. Greenfinch. Wrens. Goldcrest. Goldfinch. Chaffinch.
and the best of all was a Huge Murmuration of Starling around 16.15pm. The flock was Huge over 100yds wide! I kid you not, although they weren't that dense. very hard to count but at least 5000. flying over big area around Carlton + Ted Jury Hides and way over the Avon. Quite Impressive. There was a Sparrowhawk loitering all the time but it didn't attack. A good 2 hours birding.

Several smaller murmurations (500 or so birds max) during torrential rain.

East Marsh; Otter at 9.20 near Wright hide, Dunlin, Pintail (drake), Shelduck, Wigeon (6), Little Grebe, Kingfisher. Carlton hide; Grey Wagtail. Also c200 Golden Plover over visitor centre at 9.00am seen by other members of the conservation team.

A little further afield (not sure where to post this) a juvenile KITTIWAKE among the ducks and geese on the river in Leamington - by the bridge over the weir. Couldn't be further from the sea!
