2 Bitterns seen from East Marsh hide this afternoon - one at approx 13:00 flew out of reedbed on rhs of hide and headed towards West Marsh and an hour or so later another flew from Newlands into reeds on lhs of hide (later seen swimming/wading across channel in reedbed)

Unusual sight today. On the left hand end of Redshank Island (E M Pool)there were 2 Shelduck, 3 Wigeon, a Goosander and a Green Winged Teal. You could have thrown a blanket over them. How long before that combination will be seen again? Bittern? I should have arrived 5 minutes earlier!

Tawny Owl (1 - Seen flying across River Meadow @ dawn), Woodcock (1 - flew over 'Tip' area at first light)
Green-Winged Teal (1 - EMP), Little Grebe (1), GC Grebe (3), Goldeneye (1M~2F), Pochard (32), Golden Plover (1 - in with Lapwing), Shelduck (1 - briefly on EMP @ 1.30pm), Gadwall (18), Wigeon (40 - on River Pool), Snipe(4), Redwing (3), Fieldfare (8), Skylark (1), Lesser Redpoll (4), Cittis Warbler (4 - heard), Nuthatch (1), Bullfinch (5)
Bittern (2 - 1 in reeds on left of Big Hide @ 1.30pm + 1 in Carlton reeds just below 1st Kingfisher perch @ 2pm), Fox (1)

Rain - Rain - Rain! 0730 - 1230 42 Bird Species.

Green Winged Teal on River Pool eventually showed itself well at 0945. Bittern flew from Newlands into reeds to left of East Marsh Hide at about 1130. Snipe (2); Cettis Warbler (3); Gadwall (2); Pochard (14); Gt Cr Grebe (2); Water Rail (1); Goldeneye (1m 2f); Wigeon; Jay; Dabchick (5); Usual others.
