Dank, miserable day, but 48 species in a morning. Highlight was a roosting barn owl in a hollow tree seen from Teal Pool hide.

2.30 -4.30pm East Marsh - Blk head gull 200+, LBBGull 9(1 imm), Common Gull 12,Shoveler 28m 26f, Pochard 4f, Wigeon 13m 15f, Tufted 5m 4f, Teal 4m 3f, Lapwing 16. Water Rail in ditch to east of River Pool, Goldcrest, Redwing Central Marsh. c4000 starling over Newlands. GSWoodpecker Hope Wood. No sign of LS or LEOwl.

Long Eared Owl (14.00) along with a nice bunch of people in Carlton Hide. Had to dash back home to Rugby and pick my son up from school and after a quick change of clothes for him, we got back to Carlton Hide at 16.10 and luckily LEO was still there. Made his day.
Also seen (13.00- 15.00) Green Sandpiper, Siskins, Bullfinch (m), Goosander, Reed Buntings, Kingfisher (Grebe Pool), Green Woodpecker

LEO still showing well at 1600. My thanks to to original poster for alerting us so promptly. Also female Goosander on East Marsh pool + Common Snipe. Several non-grumpy birders in Carlton hide happy to share knowledge and allow others to view through their scopes.

Long eared owl still present at 2:30pm. Sitting quietly in a hawthorn bush to the left of Carlton Hide. Green Sandpiper flew in for 5 minutes. Sparrowhawk, buzzards and kestrel hunting. Adult fox skulking in the reeds on the far bank.
