Bittern in reed to right of East Marsh hide, better views from Wright hide looking across the pool. Pintail (1 ♂ 1 ♀), Goldeneye (1 ♂ 1 ♀), Wigeon (3), Common Snipe (2), Water Rail (2), Buzzard, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Siskin (8), Shelduck (1), Nuthatch, several sightings of Kingfisher on East Marsh pool.

Bittern seen flying into Newlands 15:30. Also moving around Newlands area last seen near big dead tree to right of Carlton pool about 16:15.

Thursday 16 February 1130-1330. Of note: Several Dunnocks singing around the reserve, ♀ Bullfinch and Coal Tits on cafe feeders. New Hare Covert: good sized tit flock working the area kept me entertained for a while including Long Tailed, Blue and Great Tits, Treecreeper, Nuthatch and Goldcrest. Also 2 GS Woodpeckers drumming and Buzzard flying low over Swallow Pool. Sparrowhawk over EM Pool causing Lapwing and Gulls to take to the air. 3 GS Woodpeckers drumming, calling and chasing each other in stand of trees adjacent to coach parking area. 4 Grey Squirrels

Pools still partly iced,
Plenty of small birds around feeders.
Kestrel, water rail, buzzard and heard Cettis Warbler three or four times from Carlton Hide.
