(A transect is a weekly walk that records butterflies in a 5m band on a fixed route, from April to September. This is a way of measuring changes in abundance and variety of butterflies at a site from year to year. It thus doesn't record all species or numbers if they are not on that route.)

18-4-18. 9.30am to 11.15. Cloudy clearing to sun. Osprey from Teal Pool Hide, hovering over and diving into River Pool, catching a medium sized fish, and carrying it to trees to the left of Teal Pool Hide, where it waited for crow mobbing to cease before eating its prey. Also, Great White Egret in River Pool, near a Grey Heron of similar height, if slighter build.
