A fabulous evening's bird watching. Highlights...

A pair of lapwings trying to scare off a swan from their territory (unsuccessfully) from East Marsh hide along with common tern, red crested pochard (pair) and reed warblers; a crow taking a barn owl in flight to ground from Carlton and finally a Whinchat from the coach parking area. Marvellous!

DSTEELEY on Monday, 07 May 2012
Monday 7 May 10.30-1130. Just popped in to see the NIGHTINGALE. Didn't see it but heard it singing before the rain came. Called in to East Marsh Hide where I saw a couple of unusual ducks. I thought I knew what they were but asked others in the hide and they confirmed M+F Red Crested Pochard.

Steady rain but path to Carlton clear.
