(A transect is a weekly walk that records butterflies in a 5m band on a fixed route, from April to September. This is a way of measuring changes in abundance and variety of butterflies at a site from year to year. It thus doesn't record all species or numbers if they are not on that route.)

Carlton hide: 4 hobbies hawking for 2 hours over the reedbeds and perching in the dead trees outside the hide. Kingfisher, cuckoo and plenty of duckling and goslings about. Nesting kestrels fighting with two of the hobbies.

Grasshopper Warbler (1 reeling & showing from Farm Reedbed), Lesser Whitethroat (2), Garden Warbler (3), Cetti's Warbler (3 heard), plus the usual selection of other now established warblers.

East Marsh Pool: Ringed Plover (1), Little-ringed Plover (2), Redshank (1), Oystercatcher (4), Shelduck (1), GC Grebe (1), Common Tern (9), Kingfisher (1) Lapwings Chicks (7)
