|Curlew over East Marsh Pool @ 7.35am + Hobby a little later! Young Muntjac Female on bank.
Kingfisher (3), Cuckoo seen and calling, Sparrowhawk, Green Sandpiper (3), Coal Tit, Willow Tit, Nuthatch in Horsetail. Good few Dragon/Damselfly included Banded Demoiselle, Black-Tailed Skimmer, Emperor & Four Spotted Chaser. Also Ringlet, Small White, Meadow Brown & Comma Butterfly.

|I saw a male Beautiful Demoiselle and several Common Blue Damselfly's.

Good observations of a juvenile Kingfisher from the Steetley Hide as well as a male Cuckoo, Coot plus young, Grey Heron, Reed Warbler, Green Woodpecker, Mallard, Jay and Common Tern (plunge diving). On the walk to the Riverpool Hide good observations of Whitethroat and Reed Warbler. Once inside the hide Sedge and Reed warblers put on a display in front of the hide. Also in attendance were Redshank (2), Oystercatcher, Reed Bunting, Lapwing and Wood Pigeon. A Water Rail provided several appearances outside the John Baldwin Hide.

Good numbers of Meadow Brown today plus Speckled Wood, Small Tortoiseshell, Small White and Ringlet also seen. Female Muntjac on East Marsh Path.

Kingfisher flew across E.M.pool.

Muntjac Deer walked across in front of E M Hide.

Male Kingfisher watched for an hour fishing in front of Steetley hide, on West Marsh Pool. Caught 3 fish, taking a few minutes to swallow the largest.Pair of Coot with 5 young chicks passed right under its fishing pole without disturbing it.
Joined at one point by another that unsuccessfully begged food from it - successful breeding?
Both eventually separately flew off in the direction of the Avon.
2 mobile Redshank. Oystercatcher carrying worms to offspring all day.
Male cuckoo heard from widely separate locations throughout the reserve over the course of several hours (2 birds? 3?). Very vocal.
Maturing Lapwing chick on Teal Pool.
Water Rail (heard)and chick(s?)- 1 seen, others suspected. 2 Cinnabar moths. 4 Grey Heron (3 juveniles and 1 adult) on West Marsh Pool. 4 Jay sightings.

Still plenty of warblers about, inc. Reed, Willow, Blackcap and Cetti's. Ringed Plover, lots of Sand Martins, Common Tern with young. Oystercatchers with two juv. Redshank 2, Shoveler 1, Jay, Great Spot and Green Woodpecker.
Cuckoo heard several times during the morning.

Grebe Pool fishing.
East Marsh Pool/hide, fly past.
West Marsh Pool fishing for at least 10 minutes, just outside of the hide.
