Saturday butterflies around the Visitor Centre, the Tip area and two meadows beyond. 30+ each Peacock, Meadow Brown & Gatekeeper. 6 Red Admiral, 6 Brimstone, 6 Common Blue (4M/2F), 2 Brown Argus (2F), 1 Holly Blue, 4 G-v White, 1 Small White, 4 Comma, 1 Speckled Wood, 1 very worn Purple Hairstreak, 2 Small Heath, 10 Small Copper, 2 Small Skipper, plus 1 Painted Lady briefly on Tip area mid-morning.

4 green sand teal pool, pink foot goose east marsh, 2 common tern east marsh, kigfisher fishing west marsh(am and pm),reed warbler singing west marsh, sparrowhawk east marsh, abundant number of peacock butterflies around reserve

4 Green Sandpiper and 1 Common Snipe on Teal Pool.
2 Common Sandpiper,12 Shoveler, 1 Wigeon,4 Gadwall,2 Common Tern,3 Sand Martin and 3 Swift on East Marsh.
Still 40+ Red-eyed Damselfly and a few Common Damselfly on Goose Pool.
Butterflies included 3 Gatekeeper,1 Peacock,and 2 Red Admiral.

Butterflies Friday 10th and Saturday 11th August. Silver washed fritillary seen once on path towards East Pool Hide; reasonable numbers of ringlets, gatekeepers, meadow brown, 2 speckled wood; many green veined white; 5 brimstone, 4 or 5 small copper; 2 small tortoiseshell, many peacock; 1 painted lady; 1 common blue; 1 comma; again no small heath. (I had my bazooka lens for birds when the fritillary was by me, too close to photo!!!! I am not an expert on fritillaries but the web images are identical, and the butterfly lazed around right next to me for a while. I hung around for ages that day and next day but no more sighting.
