Morning Visit 08:00 ~ 12.00

Quiet on East Marsh Pool: Snipe (4), Little Egret (1), Hobby (1 over Newlands)
Teal Pool: Hobby perched in dead tree!
Horsetail Glade: Goldcrest (3 Juv), Marsh Tit (1), Red Kite (one drifted north/south as viewed from bench), Blackcap (3), Whitethroat (1), Treecreeper (1), Nuthatch (2) + Willow Warbler & Chiffchaff singing!
Other Areas: Buzzard (At least 10 over the reserve), plenty of Swallows feeding over Farm Field while it was being cut! Cetti's Warbler (2 heard)

Butterfly Species: Red Admiral, Brimstone, Speckled Wood, Small Copper, Common Blue, Large White, Small White & Peacock

Meadow brown (10)

(A transect is a weekly walk that records butterflies in a 5m band on a fixed route, from April to September. This is a way of measuring changes in abundance and variety of butterflies at a site from year to year. It thus doesn't record all species or numbers if they are not on that route.)

Evening visit - 6 Snipe, Ringed Plover, 49 Black-headed Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Hobby, Kestrel, Buzzard, Kingfisher plus a good number of the commoner Warblers within the large Tit flocks around the reserve.
