|4 x Grass Snakes . Normal place and all were a good size
4 x GS Woodpecker , 2 x Green Woodpecker , Nuthatch at nest hole , 2 x Buzzards , 2 x Mistle Thrush , 1 x Song Thrush , 2 x Little Ringed Plover , 16 + Lapwings , 1 x Hobby over Newlands , 1 x ♀ Sparrowhawk , 43 Greylag , some Sand Martin chicks now waiting at entrance to burrows , good numbers of Tufted Duck .

My Highlight Of The Year ...........
15:10 hrs . Sitting on Albans bench . Slightly to the left was a Marsh Harrier quartering and what I call semi-hovering just above the reeds . The bird was there until 15:20 hrs when forced down by very heavy rain . The bird should have been able to be seen at range from Carlton hide

6 x Grass snakes . 3 in my normal sighting place . 2 about 20 yards away and another basking on a path further into the reserve . One of the 3 was in pre moult condition with blue eyes . Photo taken of that one which I'll try to upload

|Of note, Sunday, May 28: Hobby, Cuckoo x 2, pair each of Great Spotted Woodpeckers and Treecreepers feeding young, lots of fledglings on East Marsh islands but vegetation making them hard to count, including at least one Redshank chick. Butterflies included a Painted Lady near the wind pump. Lots of damselflies around the reserve including good numbers of Red-eyed.|

Goldcrest , Wren , Starling with fledglings , Cettis warbler , Blackcap , Blue tit , Robin , Carrion crow , Magpie , Chiffchaff , Stock dove , Reed warbler , Mallard , Moorhen with chicks , Common tern , Blackbird , Willow warbler , Goldfinch and Kestrel

|5:35 to 7:15 am 2 Feral pigeon at CP. Green Woodpecker 2 Mistle Thrush Song Thrush at start of Tip area. ♂ Shelduck River Pool hide.
East Marsh. Up to 9 Lapwing chicks represent best number in several years. Best of luck to them! Cuckoo heard calling distantly.
