Of note during a few hours today mid morning:

Water Shrew (1 ran out onto path near fisherman's car park ~ Only ever seen 4 here before in over 10 years!), Field Vole (1 on River Meadow)

Butterflies: Small Copper (1), Peacock numbers building (11), Meadow Brown (30+), Gatekeeper (11), Red Admiral (22), GV White (2), Large White (2), Purple Hairstreak (4), Speckled Wood (5), Comma (2), Common Blue (8), Brimstone (1), Brown Argus (1)

Dragonflies: Ruddy Darter (2), Common Darter (4), Southern Hawker (1), Brown Hawker (2)

Very brief visit to hides: 2 Green Sandpiper (Teal Pool)

Best of this mornings visit:

A family of at least 4 Willow Tit (including adult) around the dragonfly interpretation board just up from fisherman's car park...
Marsh Tit calling in New Hare covert, (2) Raven 'over' near sheep field gate...
(1) Juv GC Grebe on EM Pool..
(1) Little Egret..
(3) Green Sandpiper Teal Pool...

Butterfly sightings included: (5) Peacock & (9) Red Admiral on buddleia near Nature Centre + (6) Speckled Wood, (2) Large White, (2) Small White, (1) Comma from Wright Hide through to wind pump!

Dragonflies: (1) Southern Hawker & (2) Common Darter, (2) Brown Hawker

Yesterday's (29th July) bird sightings at Brandon Marsh included:

1Whitethroat and Blackcap on the path between the East Marsh hide/Teal pool hide and the Carlton hide

1 Jay flying over the path on the way to the Mick Taylor hide
Around 15 Stock Doves scattered around the reserve, mostly perched on dead trees
2 Buzzards from the Ted Jury hide, including a juvenile
2 Green Sandpipers from the Teal pool hide
2 Bullfinches by the path to the Steetley hide
Another Jay, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Pied Wagtail, a Nuthatch and 3 Reed Buntings at the cafe feeders, alongside the tits, finches and pigeons

Another bird maybe the same one calling 1 hour later on the east side of West Marsh
